INSTAGRAM TRANSCRIPT · PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to transcribe an Instagram Reel without captions
If a Reel has no captions, you can still make an Instagram transcript from its spoken audio. Use a video file you own or are allowed to process, upload it to the transcriber, and review the text. The tool reads speech in the audio track; it does not fetch an Instagram link or read text shown on screen.
What “no captions” means here
Instagram captions can mean two different things: subtitles attached to a post, or text placed visibly over the video. Speech transcription works from spoken audio. It can produce words even when a creator did not add subtitles, but it does not copy stickers, title cards, usernames, or other text visible in the picture.
TranscribeReels currently accepts a file from your device. It does not take a Reel URL or download a post from Instagram. If you cannot obtain a local copy through an option available to you, use a recording or file you own or have permission to transcribe.
Make the transcript in five steps
- Choose a file you may use. Use the original video or an audio export that you own or are authorized to process. The site does not sign in to Instagram on your behalf.
- Check the file before uploading. Supported extensions shown by the tool are MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, MP4, MOV, and WebM. One file is processed at a time; the source and converted audio each have a 20 MiB limit.
- Upload it on the transcriber page. Open the Instagram transcript tool, drop the file into the upload area or browse for it, and confirm that the filename is the clip you intended to use.
- Start transcription. Choose Transcribe file. Video audio is prepared in your browser; the resulting audio is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for speech recognition.
- Review before reusing the text. Listen again to names, product terms, numbers, and short phrases. Noise, music, accents, or overlapping voices can make any speech recognizer less reliable. Correct the text before quoting or publishing it.
What you can export—and what to check
The current tool lets you copy the transcript or download TXT and SRT files. SRT is grouped into sentence-sized captions using timing returned by the speech model, so review the timing before putting it into an editor. A transcript is a text version of recognized speech; it is not a copy of Instagram's own captions and it will not include silent on-screen text.
If the clip contains music but no speech, there may be little or no useful transcript. If a word matters, replay that moment and verify it yourself instead of treating the generated text as a perfect record.
Where does the uploaded audio go?
The browser prepares the audio track and sends it to Cloudflare for transcription. The site does not require an account or provide saved transcript history. Read the privacy policy before uploading sensitive material, and avoid submitting private or confidential audio unless you have permission to process it.
Quick answers
Can I paste an Instagram Reel link?
No. This page's tool accepts a local audio or video file. It does not fetch media from Instagram URLs.
Can it transcribe a Reel without subtitles?
It can recognize spoken words from an uploaded video’s audio track. It does not extract words printed over the video.
Will it make subtitles for me?
You can export an SRT file from the transcript. Check its wording and timing in your subtitle editor before publishing.
What if my file is larger than 20 MiB?
Choose a shorter segment or make a smaller authorized copy, then upload that file. The converted audio must also fit within the 20 MiB limit.
